Nnadozie Clinches Third Straight CAF Goalkeeper Award

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has retained her crown as Africa’s best shot-stopper, winning the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award for the third consecutive time at the 2025 ceremony held on Wednesday in Morocco.

The Brighton goalkeeper, who played a decisive part in Nigeria’s historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph in July, beat Morocco and AS FAR’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and Mamelodi Sundowns’ Andile Dlamini of South Africa to the accolade.

Her latest win makes her the first goalkeeper to secure the award three times in succession.

Morocco’s Yassine Bounou claimed the men’s Goalkeeper of the Year prize.

There was disappointment for Flamingos and Bayelsa Queens forward Shakirat Moshood, who lost out on the Women’s Young Player of the Year award to Morocco’s Doha El Madani.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons were named Women’s Team of the Year after their dramatic WAFCON victory, where they overturned a 2–0 deficit to defeat hosts Morocco 3–2 in the final.

Morocco featured prominently across the awards. PSG defender Achraf Hakimi was crowned 2025 African Player of the Year (Men), finishing ahead of Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen after helping his club secure a historic treble.

In the women’s category, Ghizlane Chebbak edged Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade to the top prize.

Morocco also swept both the men’s and women’s youth awards, in addition to having their U-20 men’s team named National Team of the Year following their FIFA U-20 World Cup triumph.

According to CAF, the awards recognised performance between 6 January and 15 October 2025, with nominees selected by a panel comprising members of the CAF Technical and Development Committee, seasoned coaches, CAF Legends, and selected media professionals.
