The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports Development, Daniel Igali, on Monday led senior officials and heads of parastatals under the ministry to the House Committee on Sports Development for the appraisal of its 2025 budget performance.
The session, held at the Assembly Complex in Amarata, Yenagoa, was chaired by Tare Porri, who led the committee in a detailed review of the ministry’s expenditure, achievements and ongoing programmes.
During the engagement, the committee commended the ministry for its recorded progress across various sporting initiatives, while also identifying areas that require improved planning and investment as preparations begin for the 2026 budget defence.
Igali, a former Olympic champion, hailed the committee for what he described as a cordial and constructive working relationship, saying that the collaboration has strengthened the ministry’s delivery of sporting development across the state.
He said the ministry would build on its current momentum to ensure better outcomes in the year ahead.
The meeting was described as productive, with officials citing advances in grassroots sports, athlete development and facility upgrades across Bayelsa.
