The nation is mourning the passing of renowned evangelist Rev Dr Uma Ukpai, who died on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.
The announcement of his death was made public today, October 13, by his family through his official Instagram page.
Ukpai, a towering figure in Nigerian and international Christianity, devoted more than six decades to evangelism, teaching, and prophetic ministry.
He is credited with transforming the lives of millions through his dynamic preaching and mentoring, leaving an indelible mark on the faith community both at home and abroad.

Known as a spiritual general and a founding father of faith, he was also a devoted husband, father, and mentor.
While the country mourns his physical departure, his family and followers take solace in his enduring spiritual legacy.
Gospel music star Frank Edwards recalled the evangelist’s profound influence, saying: "At age 8 I got healed of asthma and pneumonia in one of your crusades in Enugu!! Thank you for impacting the world in a special way !! YOU FINISHED WELL PAPA REST ON 🤍🙏🙏🙏."
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced, with the family promising details in due course. In their statement, they described Rev. Ukpai’s life as a testament to God’s power and love, citing Philippians 1:21: "To live is Christ, and to die is gain."
