Ned Breaks Silence on Viral Video with Female Peace Ambassador

Senator Ned Nwoko has issued a public statement debunking social media reports that attempted to link him romantically with a young woman featured in a video of an official visit under the Peace Ambassadors initiative.

The video, which has been widely shared online, shows the woman and her team visiting the senator as part of a delegation led by Ambassador Dr Adejo Sule.

However, online users began circulating the clip with "false claims" suggesting a romantic connection between Nwoko and the visitor.

In a statement released on Saturday, the senator described the reports as "false, mischievous, and malicious," warning individuals and media platforms spreading the story to desist or face legal consequences.

"A video recently brought to my attention shows a young woman who visited with her team under the Peace Ambassadors initiative, led by Ambassador Dr Adejo Sule, and it is now being circulated online with false claims attempting to affiliate me with her.

"It is unfortunate what social media has become; a space where moments are easily twisted for clout and misinformation," he said.

He explained that the photographs taken during the visit were customary and part of his routine when receiving guests.

"Even in public places or outdoor events, people often request to take pictures with me, and I oblige. It is therefore mischievous and malicious for anyone to exploit such gestures to fabricate false narratives," the statement continued.

The senator clarified that he has "no personal or private connection" with the visitor, adding that those propagating such rumours were deliberately distorting facts to mislead the public.

He further warned that continued circulation of the falsehood would attract legal action under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, which prohibits online defamation and the spread of false information.

"Any further propagation of this false narrative will attract appropriate legal action," he cautioned.

Nwoko’s statement comes at a time when his marriage to Regina Daniels has been the subject of intense public speculation, following a viral video in which the actress tearfully claimed she could no longer "stand the violence."

The senator has since dismissed those allegations, accusing Regina of "violent behaviour" and substance abuse. However, these claims have not yet been publicly addressed by the actress.

Observers say the timing of the Peace Ambassadors video controversy may have fuelled further speculation about the couple's strained relationship.
