A Plateau-based cleric and regional leader of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Evangelist Ezekiel Dachomo, has ignited widespread reactions after a viral video showed him declaring that no ransom should be paid if he is ever kidnapped.
In the footage, which has been circulating on social media, Dachomo said he had warned his family and congregation not to contribute "one kobo" for his release should he be abducted, insisting that his death would "raise war" and "lead to the liberation of Christians in Nigeria."
"We are showing them mercy, we are showing them love, but they didn’t see it. I don’t know where I will be next, but for me, I’ve already told my family and members: if they kidnap me, nobody should contribute one kobo. My grave will speak, my blood will raise war that will lead to Christians’ liberation," the cleric said.
Dachomo, a prominent voice in Plateau State, said he was fully aware of the risks involved in speaking out against the unending violence and targeted killings in parts of northern Nigeria, particularly those affecting Christian communities.
"That day is coming; I am just waiting for them. Even I will tell them, kill me quickly, because nobody will bring kobo," he said.
Earlier this month, the evangelist shared another video showing the mass burial of victims of an attack in Heipang community, near Jos, Plateau State.
He explained that the footage was intended to serve as evidence of what he described as an "ongoing Christian genocide" in the North.
Dachomo said he felt morally compelled to document the killings and speak publicly about them to ensure that "the world would not deny or forget" the suffering of Christian communities in the region.
