OPM, RCCG in Property Dispute over Free School for Marine Base Children

The founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere has made a public appeal over a property dispute in Marine Base, Port Harcourt, which he says has stalled plans to open a free school for underprivileged children.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, 6 June 2026, Chinyere said OPM Church purchased a property near its Marine Base branch with tithes and offerings to establish a free school for children in the area.

The church, he added, already operates a branch on a separate property in Marine Base.

According to him, the property was bought from the landlord almost a year ago, but the church has been unable to take possession because a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) branch is still occupying it despite their tenancy having expired.

"We have been pleading with him since last year and he kept postponing, today tomorrow," he wrote.

He mentioned that because it involves a church, OPM opted against police intervention, noting "it’s wrong for police to settle matters for a church of God."

OPM GO said the RCCG branch pastor demanded one million naira (N1m) to vacate, which was paid, but the building has not been vacated.

"My main worry is the hundreds of children living in that area that are not going to school who have been waiting for OPM to start the free school for almost a year," he stated.

He appealed to anyone close to the RCCG Marine Base pastor to intervene so the children can access free education, saying that the landlord had also pleaded with the pastor to leave.
