Five Dead in Texas Plane Crash Near Wimberley


Five people died after a small plane crashed near Wimberley on Thursday night, authorities said.

Emergency responders were dispatched to reports of a downed aircraft around 11.05 pm, according to Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra.

A Cessna 421C with five individuals on board was involved in the incident. 

All occupants died at the scene and that victim identities have not been released.

Preliminary information indicates aircraft was travelling at a high rate of speed at time of impact, Becerra said in a Facebook statement. 

Based on current findings, there is no indication of a mid-air collision. 

Also, a second aircraft travelling in the vicinity landed safely in New Braunfels.

Becerra added that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been informed of the crash and are leading investigation.
