Governor Douye Diri has directed immediate allocation of 108 completed housing units at Okaka to civil servants in Bayelsa State.
Diri gave the directive during 2026 Workers’ Day celebration at Peace Park, Yenagoa, on Friday, in response to demands from labour unions.
He also directed implementation of all annual step increments for workers.
Payment of promotion arrears and annual increments is ongoing and will continue until outstanding arrears are cleared, he said.

The governor added that more buses would be added to the existing fleet for civil servants.
Diri thanked President Bola Tinubu for recently inaugurating projects by his administration, adding that installed gas turbines would soon be operational to supply power in the state.
The Nigeria Labour Congress Chairman (NLC) in Bayelsa, Comrade Barnabas Simon, thanked Diri and the state government for improved welfare of public servants.
Simon read the joint address of NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Dignitaries at the event included Deputy Governor Peter Akpe, Speaker Abraham Ingobere, Secretary to State Government Prof Nimbofa Ayaowei, Chief Judge Matilda Ayemieye, and other government functionaries.
