BREAKING: Tinubu Reschedules Three-Nation Foreign Trip to Begin Sunday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rescheduled the commencement of his planned three-nation foreign trip to Sunday, instead of Saturday as earlier announced.

The adjustment was disclosed on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via his official X account with no reason provided for the change in travel plans.

Tinubu was initially scheduled to depart Abuja on Saturday for official visits to France, Kenya and Rwanda.

According to an earlier statement issued by Onanuga, the trip will now begin in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya.

While in Nairobi, Tinubu is expected to participate in the Africa-France Summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto.

The summit, scheduled for May 11 to 12, will focus on energy transition, digital transformation and climate action.

According to the Presidency, Tinubu’s participation will reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African countries and France.

Following the Kenya engagement, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to 15.

The forum, organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, is expected to bring together business leaders and policymakers to discuss investment and economic growth across Africa.

The Presidency said Tinubu will use the two summits to highlight ongoing economic reforms by his administration aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a preferred destination for investment.

He is also expected to hold high-level meetings with African and global business leaders.

Tinubu will be accompanied on the trip by some ministers and senior aides and is expected to return to Nigeria after the Rwanda engagement.
