BREAKING: Police, JAMB Smash UTME Exam Fraud Ring in Delta

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have broken up a high-tech exam malpractice ring in Delta State.

According to police statement on Friday, the ring was caught cheating during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) at the College of Education, Warri.

Officers acted on intelligence pointing to criminals using technology to hack into candidates' computers and remotely interfere with the exam while it was underway.

Police stressed that forensic leads confirmed that unauthorised access was gained to exam systems during the test.

Three suspects believed to be directly involved have been arrested and are in custody helping with investigations.

The probe has also flagged other centres suspected of similar activity.

JAMB said it has withdrawn results from the affected centres while investigations continue.

Candidates impacted will be rescheduled for the mop-up exam under normal procedures.

The police warned candidates, centre operators and anyone aiding the fraud to stay clear of malpractice, cyber fraud and illegal system access.

"...Nigeria Police Force remains committed to identifying, dismantling, and prosecuting criminal networks seeking to undermine the credibility of Nigeria’s educational system," said DCP Anthony Placid, Force Public Relations Officer.
