The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has waived screening requirements for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the party’s upcoming primary elections.
The decision was taken at the NWC’s 188th meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.
NWC resolved that Tinubu be "deemed as duly screened" in accordance with the APC constitution, citing its powers under Article 13.4 (xiii) and (xiv) to grant waivers in special circumstances.
In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, the NWC said the move was justified given the president’s overwhelming endorsement from key party stakeholders.

These include the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), the leadership and members of the National Assembly, and resolutions passed at the APC National Summit on 22 May 2025.
It also stated that as the incumbent president and party leader, Tinubu was already screened and cleared ahead of the 2022 presidential primaries.
"Requiring his physical appearance before a screening committee at this time would be redundant and unnecessary," the statement said.
