ADC Releases Timetable for 2026 Primary Elections


The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released the timetable for its 2026 primary elections, outlining key dates for the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, primaries, and its special national convention.

In a statement on Sunday, 3 May 2026, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the timetable shows ADC’s commitment to internal democracy and compliance with electoral guidelines.

According to the schedule, the sale of nomination forms will run from 5 May to 10 May 2026, while submission of completed forms is fixed for 11 May to 13 May 2026.

Screening of aspirants is scheduled for 14 May to 15 May 2026, and results will be published on 17 May 2026. 

Appeals will be heard between 18 May and 19 May 2026, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on 20 May 2026.

Primary elections will begin on 21 May 2026 with elections for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats holding at the ward level.

Governorship primaries will take place on 22 May 2026, and the Presidential Primary is scheduled for 25 May 2026.

The party said a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) will be held on 26 May 2026 and a Special National Convention for final ratifications is fixed for 27 May 2026.

ADC also announced fees for nomination forms across elective positions.

The party fixed the presidential nomination form at one hundred million naira (N100 million) and governorship at fifty million naira (N50 million). 

Senate form is twenty million naira (N20 million), House of Representatives is ten million naira (N10 million), while State House of Assembly is three million naira (N3 million).

To promote inclusivity, the party introduced concessions, saying youths will get a 50 percent discount, while women and persons with disabilities will get a 25 percent discount.

ADC called on members, stakeholders, and aspirants to adhere strictly to the timetable and guidelines.
