Easter: Akpabio Reassures Nigerians on Fight Against Insecurity

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s determination to defeat terrorism and restore peace across Nigeria, as Christians join the global Easter celebrations.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio urged Nigerians to embrace tolerance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence regardless of faith or ethnicity.

Extending Easter greetings on behalf of his family, constituents, and the National Assembly, he called on Christians to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity embodied in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Acknowledging the nation’s ongoing security challenges, Akpabio assured citizens that the government, alongside the Armed Forces and security agencies, is working tirelessly to curb terrorist and bandit attacks.

The Senate President also sympathized with families affected by recent violence, including killings in Jos, and prayed for comfort for the bereaved.

The president is not resting on his oars, and our security agencies are relentlessly working to tame the tide,” he said, adding that collective effort, understanding, and prayers remain vital in overcoming insecurity.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Adewale Martins of the Lagos Archdiocese has urged political leaders to take decisive action to end the spate of killings nationwide.

Recent attacks have been reported in Kwara, Nasarawa, and Plateau States, heightening calls for stronger government intervention.

Akpabio concluded with a prayer for divine guidance, asking that Nigeria be steered towards peace, harmony, and prosperity.
