Josephina Otabor, also known as Phyna, winner of Big Brother Naija season seven, has said she is no longer keen on having children, explaining that she now prefers the idea of raising pets.
The reality television star shared her views during a recent livestream, where she spoke candidly about how her outlook on motherhood has shifted as she approaches her 30s.
Phyna, who is 28, said her changing perspective reflects personal experiences and a broader pattern she has observed among women.
“I am not big on wanting to have a child, though. I am very fertile, in case you are thinking that way,” she said, adding that she would rather be “a mum to a cat and a dog.”
Phyna suggested that repeated emotional disappointments can influence such choices, arguing that many women redirect their nurturing instincts towards animals after experiencing heartbreak.
“I think the love for animals in women kicks in when you are approaching your 30s—some mid-30s, late 30s. Especially when you do not see yourself settling down,” she said.
According to her, women who have been through several failed relationships often develop a stronger attachment to pets.
“Maybe you have been through too many broken relationships. Women start to develop a likeness for pets. I think I am in that stage,” she added.

Phyna, whose rise to fame followed her victory on the reality show, has previously spoken openly about her personal life.
She recently disclosed details of undergoing Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery, documenting the recovery process and describing it as challenging, before later showcasing the results to her followers.
