Actor Patrick Doyle Mourns Loss of Newborn Daughter

Veteran Nollywood actor and broadcaster, Patrick Doyle has announced the heartbreaking death of his newborn daughter, just hours after celebrating her arrival.

In a sombre Facebook post, Doyle revealed that baby Omayinuwa Mayen Harriet Doyle, born on Friday 10 April at 10:40 am, passed away the following day at 4:15 pm.

"Omayinuwa visited us briefly… Her stay was short but it brought great joy with it. We would have wished for a longer stay, but alas heaven thought otherwise," he wrote.

Doyle added that his faith in God remains steadfast despite the tragedy.

The announcement came only a day after Doyle had shared the joyous news of her birth, thanking God and saying that both mother and child were doing well.

"OMAYINUWA MAYEN HARRIET DOYLE was born yesterday at about 10:40 AM. Mother and child are doing well and daddy is overwhelmed with joy and gratitude to God Almighty," he had said.

The sudden loss has prompted an outpouring of sympathy from fans and colleagues, many of whom had earlier joined in celebrating the child’s arrival.

This personal tragedy follows a period of change in Doyle’s life as his marriage to actress Ireti Doyle ended in divorce in 2023, after years of speculation about their separation.

The pair, married since 2004, share children together, but following the divorce Doyle remarried in early 2023.

For now, the actor has asked for strength and continues to lean on his faith, writing: "It is well with our soul."
