BREAKING: US Revokes over 100,000 Visas in Sweeping Immigration Crackdown

The United States Department of State has revoked more than 100,000 visas, including thousands issued to international students and specialised professionals, as part of a sweeping crackdown on visa holders with alleged criminal ties.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, the department confirmed the mass revocation, citing “encounters with US law enforcement for criminal activity” as the primary reason.

The State Department has now revoked over 100,000 visas, including some 8,000 student visas and 2,500 specialised visas for individuals who had encounters with U.S. law enforcement for criminal activity,” the post read.

The department said the move was part of broader efforts to bolster public safety and enforce immigration laws.

We will continue to deport these thugs to keep America safe,” it added, in language that has drawn criticism from civil liberties advocates for its tone and lack of specificity.

No further details were provided regarding the timeline of the revocations or the nature of the offences involved.
