The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed a wave of fake online publications claiming that a recruitment portal for new officers has been opened, warning that the posts were created by fraudsters targeting unsuspecting Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Commission said it had not begun any recruitment exercise for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and had not authorised the opening of any portal for such purposes.
“The general public is hereby informed that these publications are fake and entirely misleading. They are the handiwork of fraudsters attempting to exploit innocent citizens,” the PSC said.
It stressed that no recruitment is currently under way, adding that verified announcements would be released exclusively through authorised platforms, including adverts in reputable national newspapers, notices on the Commission’s official website and formal press statements.
“We urge Nigerians to rely only on information published through these official channels. Any recruitment portal not listed on our website is fraudulent and should be reported to the police,” the Commission added.
The PSC urged applicants to ignore the circulating claims to avoid falling victim to scams.
Earlier, the Commission had cautioned Nigerians seeking careers in the Police Force to beware of fake recruitment adverts, clarifying that the 2025 exercise had not commenced.
