Bandits Abduct Four Travellers in Fresh Daylight Attack in Kogi

Bandits struck again on Sunday afternoon along the Odo-Ogbe axis in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, abducting four travellers in a brazen daylight operation that has intensified anxiety across rural communities.

The attack, which occurred at about 2:00 pm, targeted a group travelling on a motorcycle along the isolated route.

According to local sources, the gunmen emerged from the surrounding bush, seized the riders and forced all four victims into the forest before fleeing.

One of the abducted individuals has been identified locally as Oju Lari, whose photograph is now being circulated across the community in hopes of aiding search efforts.

Residents say the incident lasted only minutes but left the area rattled. “They blocked the road suddenly and dragged them into the bush. The operation didn’t last more than a few minutes. This road has become a hot zone. People are terrified to pass here,” a resident said.

Community leaders have renewed appeals to security agencies and the Kogi State Government, urging a sustained deployment to reclaim the increasingly volatile corridor.

They warn that unchecked attacks are crippling movement, with many rural dwellers now reluctant to travel even short distances.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities have not issued any official statement, and the condition or location of the four abducted victims remains unknown.
