2face Breaks Silence with Cryptic Message Amid Ongoing Marital Controversy

Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2face, has spoken publicly for the first time since controversy surrounding him, his wife and Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru began dominating social media chatter.

In a brief message posted to his Instagram Story on Wednesday, the award-winning singer wrote simply; “Help me.”

His comment followed an earlier post by his brother, Hyacinth Idibia, who shared a reflective note accompanied by lyrics from one of 2face’s well-known songs.

You’ve always been ahead, always been brilliant. Lyrics meant to inspire, but somehow it’s unfolding in real time… Painful reality. Allow us save you. You’ve been suffering for too long. God knows,” Hyacinth wrote.

Notably, the online activity indicates the latest chapter in a saga that has played out for weeks.

The dispute reportedly began in the United Kingdom (UK), where the couple were said to have engaged in a heated confrontation that drew police attention and resulted in 2face being briefly detained.

Thereafter, the matter resurfaced during an Instagram Live session hosted by broadcaster Daddy Freeze, where the pair were again seen in a tense exchange.

The incidents have fuelled speculation about the state of the musician’s marriage, with many fans voicing worry about his welfare and the direction of the unfolding saga.

As at the time of filing this report, neither 2face nor Osawaru has issued a detailed statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the dispute.

Nigeria Moves Away from Borrowing

The federal government has unveiled a great shift in Nigeria’s fiscal strategy, moving away from heavy reliance on borrowing towards the mobilisation of mass domestic savings as a sustainable response to the nation’s rising debt burden. Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, disclosed the new approach during an interactive session on the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP), hosted by the Senate Committee on Finance at the National Assembly. Edun said the policy pivot was essential in light of persistent revenue shortfalls, mounting fiscal pressures, and the need to strengthen domestic capital formation without further swelling public debt. According to the minister, Nigeria’s total public debt has soared to around N152 trillion, up from approximately N70 trillion in 2023, but a large portion of the increase did not stem from new borrowing. He explained that N30 trillion arose from the formal recognition an...
