Zulum Declares Statewide Fasting, Prayer as Borno Confronts Rising Insecurity

Governor Babagana Zulum has called on residents of Borno State to observe a day of fasting and prayer as the state continues to grapple with a resurgence of insecurity across several communities.

In a statewide broadcast on Saturday, Zulum said the initiative, scheduled for Monday, 24 November 2025, is intended to seek divine intervention alongside ongoing security measures.

As a people of faith, we believe our security strategies must be underpinned by prayer. I hereby declare Monday, 24th November, 2025, as a Statewide Day of Fasting and Prayer for the restoration of peace in Borno State and the country,” he said.

He urged all residents, irrespective of religious affiliation, to participate in the observance, adding that unity in prayer remains crucial as the state confronts renewed threats.

On this day, I call upon every resident of Borno, regardless of faith, to join in prayer for the lasting peace and prosperity of our beloved state and Nigeria,” he said.

Zulum stressed that collective supplication would reinforce communal resilience and support efforts by security agencies working to restore stability.

Collective prayer and fasting can strengthen communal faith and bring relief to the state,” the governor said.
