Tragedy Strikes as NYSC-Bound Bus Crashes in Gombe

A harrowing accident claimed the lives of at least 16 people on Wednesday when a 18-seater bus ferrying prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from The Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, veered off a northern highway en route to the NYSC camp in Gombe.

The bus, carrying students and the driver, reportedly lost control, resulting in a catastrophic crash that has left the academic community and families in shock.

Two survivors remain in critical condition, receiving urgent medical attention.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that a full investigation will be launched to establish the circumstances behind the tragedy.

As of press time, neither the NYSC nor government authorities have issued official statements regarding the incident.

This disaster has renewed fears over the safety of corps members who routinely undertake long-distance journeys across the country for national service.
