Tinubu Nominates Enugu Attorney General Kingsley Ude as Minister

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Enugu State, for appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The President’s request for Ude’s screening and confirmation was conveyed in a letter to the Senate, which was read during Tuesday’s plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Following the reading, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative consideration and screening.

The nomination comes in the wake of the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who stepped down last month amid controversies surrounding his academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials.

Nnaji’s exit left Enugu State without representation in the federal cabinet, creating a vacancy that Ude is now set to fill pending Senate confirmation.

Ude, a seasoned lawyer and recent appointee to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has served as Enugu State’s chief law officer, where he has been credited with key legal and justice sector reforms.

If confirmed, he will join Tinubu’s cabinet to represent Enugu State and oversee a yet-to-be-disclosed ministerial portfolio.
