Nigerian reality TV star and entrepreneur Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has made history by setting two new Guinness World Records for the most individual cosmetic makeovers completed within 24 hours.
The record-breaking feat took place on 11 October in Lagos, where Tacha worked behind a glass wall, allowing members of the public to watch her carry out each transformation.
In a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Tacha revealed that she achieved 82 makeovers within the first eight hours and went on to complete a total of 144 makeovers over the full 24-hour period, surpassing the previous record set by Mary Yongai of Sierra Leone.
Each participant received a full cosmetic session that included foundation, concealer, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, lip liner and gloss, eyebrow styling, and finishing powder.
The attempt, however, was not without challenges. A severe nine-hour storm hit Lagos during the record run, damaging screens and branding, while persistent power outages forced the team to depend on phone flashlights to continue the makeovers.
Despite these setbacks, Tacha and her team pushed through without pausing, ensuring all makeovers were completed within the allotted time.
Guinness World Records has since confirmed her achievement, officially awarding her two titles for the record.
Reacting to the recognition, Tacha described the moment as "overwhelming," saying it filled her with joy, relief, and pride.
She dedicated the records to young girls, creatives, and dreamers across Africa, encouraging them to stay resilient and pursue their ambitions fearlessly.
"This is for every Nigerian and African woman who believes she can make a global impact," she said.
