Super Falcons’ Chiamaka Nominated for FIFA’s Goalkeeper Award

Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie has been shortlisted for FIFA’s 'The Best' women’s goalkeeper of the Year award, capping off a stellar year for both club and country.

FIFA announced the nominees on Wednesday, recognising players whose performances stood out between 11 August 2024 and 2 August 2025.

"The Nigerian was magnificent as Paris FC stunned Paris Saint-Germain in the Coupe de France final, keeping a clean sheet and then denying two penalties in the shootout," FIFA said.

The 24-year-old, now with Brighton, also impressed on the international stage, starring as Nigeria reclaimed the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.

Nnadozie kept four clean sheets in six matches, conceding only three goals throughout the tournament, two of which came in the final.

Her commanding presence and shot-stopping heroics helped the Super Falcons secure a record 10th continental crown.

Her latest FIFA nomination adds to a growing list of accolades. Earlier in the year, she finished fourth in the race for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy at the Ballon d’Or and remains in contention for a third consecutive CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Other goalkeepers vying for The Best honour include Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany), Cata Coll (Spain), Christiane Endler (Chile), Hannah Hampton (England), Anna Moorhouse (England), and Phallon Tullis-Joyce (USA).

With her blend of composure, athleticism, and leadership, Nnadozie has continued to strengthen her reputation as one of the finest goalkeepers in women’s football, and a source of pride for Africa.
