Nollywood star Regina Daniels has publicly admitted to using illicit drugs, claiming she was introduced to them by her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, during their marriage.
In a deeply emotional statement shared via her verified social media handle on Sunday, the actress said she had “finally decided to let the truth out,” alleging that the billionaire politician “wanted” her to take drugs for his “sexual pleasure.”
Daniels, who married Nwoko in 2019 at the age of 17, described her years in the marriage as psychologically exhausting and manipulative, saying she had reached her breaking point.
“Yes everyone! It is now in history that Regina Daniels did drugs because that was what her husband wanted, believe it or not,” she wrote. “Dearest ex-husband, thanks for breaking the crown you put on my head. I trusted you with all of me, even with my sextape, which I pray never sees the light.”
The actress went on to state her regret over the relationship, saying she had been naïve and vulnerable when she married Nwoko.
“When I married you at 17, was I on drugs? I thank God for time,” she said, adding that her reputation may be “ruined for now,” but she was determined to “rewrite her story.”
Her outburst, which has since gone viral across Nigerian social media, appears to be a direct response to Nwoko’s recent counterclaims that her brother, Sammy, was the one who introduced her to narcotics.
In a different post, Daniels reflected on her emotional struggles, saying she had long battled sadness and pressure behind her public image of glamour and happiness.
“Life is funny. I’m sad and heartbroken. I’ve always believed it’s better to die than to be sad, but I’m still here,” she wrote, describing herself as an “advocate for happiness.”
She concluded with a defiant vow to challenge her estranged husband in court, declaring: “Now that I have let the one thing you have on me out, what else? It’s time to fight with all of me in court! I’m not backing down now, you narcissistic, manipulative bastard!”
As of press time, Senator Nwoko had not publicly responded to her latest statement.
The couple’s marital crisis has dominated public discourse for weeks, with both parties trading accusations ranging from infidelity and blackmail to emotional abuse and drug use.
