Nollywood actor Odira Nwobu has reportedly died in South Africa, months after he survived a horrific car crash on the Lagos–Ibadan expressway.
Nwobu's death was announced on Monday by controversial filmmaker Stanley Ontop, who said on Instagram that the actor passed away in the early hours of the morning.
Further details surrounding the circumstances of his death remain unclear.
Nwobu had been involved in a ghastly accident in June, a collision that claimed several lives and left vehicles mangled beyond recognition.
A viral video from the scene showed him conscious but bloodied as he was pulled from the wreckage and taken to hospital along with other survivors.
The actor, known for his comic roles and appearances in numerous Igbo-language films, had reportedly been recovering from injuries sustained in the crash before the latest development.
