Lokpobiri Hails Tamrose for Exemplary Use of Local Content Fund

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, on Thursday hailed Tamrose Limited for what he described as an outstanding demonstration of commitment to Nigeria’s local content aspirations under the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund (NCI Fund).

Speaking at the company’s "Celebration of Growth and Impact" event held at the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) Conference Hall in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, the Minister praised the fruitful partnership between the Board and the indigenous marine logistics firm.

Lokpobiri acknowledged Tamrose’s rapid expansion from four to 15 offshore support vessels, describing the progress as evidence of what targeted support and local industry capacity can deliver.

"We believe this is the right way to go," he said, urging other indigenous operators to take advantage of similar funding windows to grow their fleets, deepen capacity and create jobs in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He congratulated both Tamrose and the NCDMB for what he called a "mutually reinforcing achievement" in strengthening Nigeria’s energy support ecosystem.

Representing the NCDMB Executive Secretary, Engr Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the General Manager, Capacity Development, Esueme Dan-Kikile, said Tamrose’s journey reflects the transformative potential of Nigerian talent and enterprise when supported with the right financial instruments.

Ogbe stated that Tamrose had fully repaid its $10 million NCI Fund facility, joining more than 20 indigenous firms that have met their repayment obligations.

He added that the Board would soon launch a Nigerian Content Equity Fund (NCEF) to provide long-term capital for Nigerian companies operating in high-impact sectors.

In his welcome remarks, the Executive Chairman of Tamrose Limited, Ambrose Ovbiebo, described the event as both a celebration and a moment of reflection.

He said the company’s success was rooted in a culture of safety, operational excellence and customer-focused service, underpinned by the commitment of its workforce.

Ovbiebo announced that the company had repaid its transformational loan in full, without missing a single instalment.

He credited the NCDMB’s support as a decisive catalyst for Tamrose’s growth, and lauded Ogbe for what he termed visionary leadership.

Industry partners at the gathering also thanked Tamrose for its integrity, accountability and disciplined financial management, which they said had strengthened stakeholder confidence and positioned the company for further expansion.
