FCT Police Launch Territory-Wide Crackdown on Criminals

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, has ordered a sweeping crackdown on criminal elements across Abuja as part of intensified efforts to strengthen public safety and maintain peace in the nation's capital.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the commissioner directed all tactical and surveillance units under the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), including operatives of the Police Mobile Force and the Counter Terrorism Unit to join forces with divisional police formations in an extensive cleanup operation.

According to Adeh, the operation, which commences in November 2025 and runs through January 2026, aims to "identify, dislodge, and apprehend all criminal elements hibernating within the nooks and crannies of the territory."

She added that the police chief stated  that "the exercise will be conducted with intensity and consistency," directing operatives to dominate identified black spots, criminal hideouts, and vulnerable communities to ensure the safety and security of residents.

CP Dantawaye also charged all officers involved to carry out their duties with professionalism and warned that any act of misconduct or abuse of authority would not be tolerated.

He urged operatives to uphold discipline, integrity, and respect for human rights throughout the exercise, while appealing to residents to cooperate with security personnel and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command recently recorded a successful fight against kidnapping, rescuing 23 foreign nationals and arresting 14 suspected abductors in neighbouring Nasarawa State.

SP Adeh said in a statement that the rescue operation, conducted by operatives of the command’s Scorpion Squad around 8 pm on Tuesday, October 22, 2025, took place at Angwan Adamu Ruga Fulani Zone B, Riverside, Ado Mararaba.

"The intelligence-led operation followed a report indicating that several foreign nationals had been lured into Nigeria under the pretext of lucrative job offers.

"Upon arrival, they were held hostage by their abductors, who demanded ransom payments from their families via WhatsApp and other online platforms," she said.
