DSS Dismisses 115 Personnel, Warns Public Against Fake Operatives

The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 personnel as part of its ongoing internal reforms, cautioning Nigerians to beware of individuals parading themselves as serving officers of the agency.

The DSS announced the development in a statement shared on its official X handle on Tuesday, noting that the action followed a comprehensive review aimed at strengthening professionalism and integrity within the service.

"As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period," the statement read in part.

The agency explained that some of the dismissed officers, including individuals earlier identified as Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, had continued to impersonate DSS operatives to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

"Members of the public are advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service," the DSS warned.

It further disclosed that the names of all affected former personnel have been published on its official website, www.dss.gov.ng, for verification and transparency.

"For the sake of clarity, the identities of the dismissed personnel have been published on the website of the Service," it added.

The agency also provided contact channels for citizens to report complaints or make enquiries.

The DSS had earlier announced plans to arraign two dismissed staff members, Barry Donald and Victor Godwin, who were arrested for alleged involvement in fraudulent activities.
