BREAKING: Terrorists Launch Fresh Attack on Travellers in Kwara

Armed terrorists are reportedly attacking travellers along the Eruku–Egbe road in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Monday, forcing vehicles to a halt and triggering panic among commuters.

Eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters that the attackers, believed to be armed bandits, have been targeting motorists and passengers in the area, causing a traffic standstill as travellers abandoned their vehicles and fled for safety.

A video circulating online shows several vehicles, including trucks, lined up on the highway, with stranded passengers seeking cover in nearby bushes.

The gunmen are still operating around the area. We’re advising people not to use this route until security agents arrive,” one eyewitness warned.

The latest incident follows Sunday’s attack along the Ayere–Kabba road in Kogi State, where terrorists ambushed a commercial bus, killing one passenger and injuring several others.

Witnesses said the assault occurred around 5pm when gunmen opened fire on moving vehicles. Some motorists managed to escape, but several passengers were hit by bullets.

One person was confirmed dead at the general hospital, while others are being treated for gunshot wounds,” a local source confirmed.

Residents say the Ayere–Kabba–Eruku corridor has become a dangerous stretch for travellers, with recurring assaults by armed gangs operating between Kogi and Kwara States.

Security operatives have yet to issue an official statement at the time of filing this report.
