The Bayelsa State Government has announced the renaming of the Ministry of Power to the Ministry of Public Utilities, following an expansion of its mandate to cover a broader range of essential services.
In a statement on Friday, the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai, said Governor Douye Diri approved the name change to reflect the ministry’s wider responsibilities.
According to Obiyai, the newly rebranded Ministry of Public Utilities will now oversee critical sectors including power, water resources, and other related public services.
She urged residents and government institutions to take note of the development in all official correspondences and engagements going forward.
