Bandits Kill Two Farmers in Kaduna Ambush, Launch Second Attack on Search Party

Two farmers have been shot dead by bandits in Kaduna State’s Birnin Gwari Local Government Area (LGA) in yet another deadly assault.

It was said that the attack occurred on Sunday morning near Mamman Yarwa village in Tabani Ward.

According to local sources, the victims were ambushed on their way to their farms and killed instantly.

Residents, alarmed by gunfire and the farmers’ failure to return home, later organised a search party.

However, unknown to them, the assailants had set a second ambush. The bandits opened fire as the villagers combed the area, forcing them to flee.

Security forces were eventually deployed to the scene and, after a gun battle with the attackers, secured the area and recovered the bodies of the two victims.

The latest incident follows a string of violent attacks in Kaduna State. On Thursday night, armed men killed one person and injured several others along the Pala–Sayasaya Road in Ikara Local Government Area (LGA), the second assault in the same spot within 24 hours.

Witnesses said the bandits kidnapped several travellers and stole more than 10 motorcycles at gunpoint.

Many of those injured were rushed to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria and Ikara General Hospital,” a resident told SaharaReporters.

Just days earlier, six farmers were abducted from their fields in Layin Danauta village, Kuyello Ward, also in Birnin Gwari. Locals said the victims were working on a beans farm when the gunmen struck.

Bandits also targeted traders last week, intercepting a commercial vehicle at Kwanan Danwandara in the same Tabani Ward.

The assailants kidnapped all passengers, including the driver, as well as two motorcyclists in the vicinity.
