Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has alleged that he is in possession of a video purportedly showing how late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, was killed.
Fabiyi made the claim in a video posted on social media, where he also issued a direct appeal to President Bola Tinubu to intervene.
He said the clip was sent to him in what he described as an attempt to extort him.
“President Bola Tinubu, I wrote to you in May 2025 that Mohbad was murdered. Part of the video was sent to me in an apparent attempt to extort me.
“Your office wrote and gave a directive to the Inspector General of Police that they should investigate, harmonise, and prosecute,” Fabiyi said in the viral clip on Thursday.
The actor claimed that investigators at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja had reviewed the case file and identified key suspects in what he described as an alleged cover-up.
“As of November 2025, after the FCID in Abuja noted key suspects already complicit in the alleged cover-up, the wife of the deceased turned herself in Abuja.
“Now they want to cover it up. They are even asking the same suspects to write a petition against me over illegal arrests,” he said.
Fabiyi further accused some police officers of attempting to intimidate him because of the evidence he claimed to have.
“This suspect wants to silence me because they want to use the video against you. I don’t know why it is wrong to be loyal to your government. I am putting my life on the line to stand by this government and to speak the truth,” he said.
His claims drew swift reaction online, with many users urging him to forward the alleged footage to investigators rather than issuing emotional appeals.
One user, Olu Olabode, wrote: “This is a very serious allegation. If Yomi Fabiyi truly has any evidence, the right thing is to submit it directly to the authorities, not social media.”
Rivers Trending added: “People are dying, and justice must be served. If Yomi’s evidence is real, the authorities must open the case fully with independent investigators.”
Another user, OkochaCFC, commented: “Is President Tinubu an investigator? Share it with police and maybe release it online to force their hand.”
Some users called on him to publish the video publicly. “He should post the video online so we can judge from there,” pizzle pizzle wrote, while another user, Oyetunde, added: “Post the videos if you got it.”
Others questioned his safety or accused him of seeking attention. “You have the video, but you can’t release it. Why?” a user identified as
whisperingheart asked. Rickky added: “If this is clout chasing, he’d better stop.”
Fabiyi’s claims come against the backdrop of ongoing controversy over Mohbad’s death on 12 September 2023.
Investigations by the Lagos Police and a coroner’s inquest established that the singer died after suffering a severe allergic reaction to injections administered by an auxiliary nurse at his home.
The nurse, who admitted giving Tetanus Toxoid, Paracetamol IV and Ceftriaxone IV, was identified as the principal suspect.
Police findings also revealed that Mohbad had been injured during a violent altercation with a childhood friend, with the wound allegedly mishandled.
The coroner subsequently ruled that the death resulted from medical negligence and directed the prosecution of the nurse.
Separate probes examined claims that artists Naira Marley and Sam Larry had bullied or threatened the singer prior to his death, based on video evidence and witness accounts.
Mohbad was buried a day after he died, prompting widespread public outrage and a later exhumation for autopsy and toxicology tests, processes that fuelled months of speculation and renewed calls for transparency.
Fabiyi has not publicly released the video he claims to possess, and police have not commented on his latest allegations, as of press time.
