Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Ltd (PINL) has unveiled a new Women Entrepreneurs & Empowerment Programme aimed at supporting more than 2,000 women and girls across 215 host communities along the Eastern Corridor of the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP).
The initiative, designed to equip participants with business skills, financial literacy, and enterprise support, seeks to foster sustainable livelihoods and promote gender inclusion within the region.
Speaking at a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Port Harcourt, Dr Akpos Mezeh, PINL’s General Manager (GM) for Community Relations, confirmed that data collection for the programme in the city has been completed and verification is underway.
"Beneficiaries will soon be contacted," he said, underlining the initiative’s focus on empowering local entrepreneurs.
Mezeh also disclosed that PINL is finalising a youth scholarship scheme, with funds expected to be disbursed later in October, aimed at increasing participation from underrepresented communities.
He stressed the company’s commitment to social and environmental investment, revealing ongoing collaborations with government agencies and industry experts to boost community welfare.
On security matters, Mezeh mentioned that strengthened engagement with local stakeholders has ensured uninterrupted pipeline operations and improved community relations.
"These efforts have ensured peace and enhanced operational integrity," he added.
