Over 8 Million Nigerians Registered Online – INEC


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that more than eight million Nigerians have completed online registration in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Fresh data obtained from the Commission on Tuesday showed that a total of 8,003,196 entries were recorded in the ninth week of the exercise, covering 13th to 19th October 2025.

According to the figures, women slightly outnumbered men, with 4,190,890 female registrants (52.37 per cent) compared to 3,812,306 males (47.63 per cent).

The data further revealed that young Nigerians aged 18 to 34 accounted for the largest portion of registrants, totalling 5,533,514 (69.14 per cent), followed by 1,678,212 (20.97 per cent) middle-aged citizens between 35 and 49 years, while those aged 50 to 69 made up 704,866 (8.81 per cent).

In terms of occupation, students led the pack with 2,018,967 registrations (25.23 per cent), followed by business professionals at 1,659,690 (20.74 per cent). Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) represented 2.29 per cent, translating to 182,718 registrants.

Imo State emerged as the frontrunner, recording 826,850 online pre-registrations (10.32 per cent), while Lagos State followed with 604,619 (7.56 per cent) and Ogun State came third with 510,062 (6.37 per cent). 

On the other end, Yobe State recorded the lowest participation, with just 2,714 registrations (0.03 per cent).

INEC disclosed that registration activities remain suspended in Anambra State, in line with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022, until the conclusion of the state’s governorship election on November 8.

So far, the Commission disclosed that 1,710,450 Nigerians have completed both their online pre-registration and physical biometric capture. 

Of this figure, 956,566 completed their registration online, while 753,884 did so at physical centres across the country.

Once again, young people dominated this segment with 1,261,288 individuals aged 18–34 (73.74 per cent). 

Female registrants also maintained a lead with 945,305 (55.27 per cent), compared to 765,145 males (44.73 per cent), while PWDs made up 24,207 (1.41 per cent).

By occupation, students remained the largest group, accounting for 566,391 completed registrations (33.11 per cent), followed by businesspersons with 316,295 (18.49 per cent), and housewives with 259,932 (15.28 per cent).

Among states, Osun recorded the highest number of completed registrations with 151,593, trailed by the Federal Capital Territory (106,855) and Lagos (85,831). 

Other notable figures include Kano (96,280), Imo (90,469), and Rivers (28,507).

INEC stressed that all registration data would undergo validation through the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to eliminate multiple or invalid entries before publication of final figures.
