NELFUND Grants Final 48-Hour Extension for Student Verification

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced a final 48-hour reopening of its verification portal to enable tertiary institutions that are yet to complete their student verification to do so.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, said the portal will reopen from 12:00 am on Sunday, 12 October to 12:00 am on Tuesday, 14 October.

According to Oluwatuyi, the extension is aimed at ensuring that all eligible students are properly captured and verified as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application cycle.

She cautioned that any institution that fails to comply would risk disadvantaging its students, who are the prospective beneficiaries of the federal student loan scheme.

The Director further revealed that, in the interest of transparency and accountability, NELFUND will publish the list of defaulting institutions at the end of the exercise.

Reiterating the Fund’s commitment, she added that NELFUND remains dedicated to ensuring equitable access to higher education through effective and inclusive administration of student loans nationwide.

She said:

"Institutions are strongly advised to make full use of this final opportunity.

"Failure to complete the verification process within the stipulated period will result in the affected institutions forfeiting participation in the current loan cycle.

"A situation that will regrettably disadvantage their students who are the ultimate beneficiaries of the loan scheme."
