Big Brother Naija Season 10 first runner-up, Dede Ashiogwu, has opened up about her experience on the reality show, describing it as both intense and enlightening.
The calm and composed housemate, known for her authenticity, said she is still processing the life-changing journey.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Dede revealed that her time in the house tested her emotionally but helped her grow.
"I have been trying to internalise everything and make sure to breathe at the same time. It wasn’t an easy journey for me, but at the same time, I feel good," she said.
No Strategy, Just Authenticity
Unlike some contestants who entered the game with strategies, Dede said she chose to simply live in the moment.
"I didn’t go with any plan. I just lived and took every day as it came,"
she explained, adding that while some viewers mistook her calm demeanour as calculated gameplay, she saw it simply as being true to herself.
"It’s a game. Some of us lived through it, and some played it like an actual game. But it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a game. Calculation is good."
Battling Emotions in the House
Dede also admitted there were times she struggled with her emotions, a reality she believes every housemate faced.
"It is very normal if you are inside the house. But being able to snap out of it is what really matters."
On Losing the Grand Prize to Imisi
Despite mixed reactions from fans over her runner-up finish, Dede showed grace, applauding winner Imisi for her victory.
"As long as we stepped our feet into the house, we are all winners. She (Imisi) deserved it, and I don’t think it could have gone any other way."
Facing Fame with an Open Mind
Now stepping into public life, Dede said she is ready to learn and carve her path.
"I am not fully prepared, especially since I have never been here before. I am ready to learn and navigate things. The sky is big enough for everyone to thrive. I will stand out regardless. I am Dede, and every other person is who they are."
Staying True to Herself
When asked who she was before fame, she simply replied:
"Calm, real and authentic — and I still am. The only difference is that I have learnt more."
Even with the pressures of stardom, Dede insists she will hold on to her peace.
"I like it because we don’t have to be chaotic all the time," she said.
