Chinedu Demands Greater Support for Content Creators

Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, has called for greater acknowledgment and support for content creators, describing the industry as demanding yet increasingly influential.

In a recent interview with Sunday Scoop, the veteran actor disclosed the immense effort required to produce engaging online content, noting that many underestimate the work behind the scenes.

"Content creation is a whole lot of work. It’s an entire industry on its own. You have to give kudos to everybody who is a content creator," he said.

Ikedieze, who has ventured into digital content alongside acting, revealed that the process often consumes his nights. "Sometimes I stay up till 3 a.m. editing my videos, especially those I plan to post the next day. Even when you send it to an editor, it may not come back on time, so I do it myself. It’s a whole lot," he explained.

Drawing a comparison with traditional filmmaking, he noted that content creation demands more improvisation. "For filmmaking, you prepare; you have a story. For content creation, an idea just comes to your mind, you put it down, and that is it. Sometimes, my wife and I shoot content till 1 or 2 am," he said.

The actor urged the government to pay closer attention to the sector, stressing its economic value and role in youth empowerment.

"The government should come into it and see what they can do to help, because as much as these creators are making life easier for themselves, they are also contributing to the economy," Ikedieze added.

Content creation, once seen as a hobby, has become a viable career path in Nigeria, drawing actors, comedians and influencers into the fast-growing digital space.
