Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move that suggests a major political shake-up in the South-East.
Mbah made the announcement during a state-wide broadcast on Tuesday, explaining that his decision was guided by the need to align Enugu with the federal government for better access to national projects and partnerships.
He openly praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, saying Enugu has enjoyed substantial support from the presidency and that moving to the ruling party would help sustain and expand those gains.
The Governor decamped alongside members of the state House of Assembly, local government chairmen, councillors and key political allies, effectively collapsing PDP structures in the state into the APC.
Earlier this year, the governors of Delta and Akwa Ibom, Sheriff Oborevwori and Umo Eno, also crossed over to the APC with their aides and officials.
