The Bayelsa State Ministry of Transport has disowned individuals issuing fake transport tickets to motorists and dispatch riders under the guise of government officials.
tThe warning follows a report by a concerned citizen, Perekeme Fidelis Perekeme Jnr, whose wife, a courier operator, had her dispatch motorcycle seized and was coerced into making payment for an alleged transport ticket.
"Recently, my wife—who runs a courier business—had one of her dispatch bikes seized by some individuals who claimed to be working with the Bayelsa State Ministry of Transport. They went as far as issuing tickets and collecting money in the name of the Ministry," he said.

Perekeme said he visited the Commissioner for Transport, Hon Preye Brodrick, to verify the incident, only to learn that the Ministry had neither authorised such enforcement nor issued the tickets presented.
According to him, the Commissioner confirmed the tickets were fake and that the individuals involved were impostors.
Brodrick advised the public to insist on verification at the Ministry before making any payment, warning that anyone caught selling fake tickets or harassing road users will be arrested and prosecuted.
Perekeme urged motorists and business owners in Bayelsa to remain vigilant and expose fraudulent practices undermining public trust.
