At Least 15 Dead in Northeast Brazil Road Crash

At least 15 people were killed when a bus carrying 30 passengers overturned in northeast Brazil, local authorities confirmed on Saturday.

The accident occurred late Friday in Pernambuco state after the bus, travelling in the wrong direction, struck rocks at the roadside.

The driver corrected the vehicle’s course but lost control, crashing into an embankment and causing the bus to flip over, police said.

Reports insisted that eleven women and four men were among those killed.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the number of injured passengers.

Some victims were ejected from the vehicle during the crash, the statement added.

The driver sustained only minor injuries and tested negative for alcohol.

He has been taken into police custody as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
