The Consulate of Grenada in Nigeria has announced visa-free entry for Nigerian passport holders, a move it says is designed to strengthen trade, tourism and investment links between the two countries.
Grenada’s Consul to Nigeria, Ambassador Abidemi Sonoiki, confirmed the development during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja on Thursday.
Sonoiki said the Caribbean nation had already approved free access for Nigerians and was now awaiting reciprocal action from the Nigerian government through diplomatic channels.
"I have a letter from Grenada’s foreign affairs authorities to Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Grenada has approved free access for Nigerians, and we expect Nigeria to reciprocate the gesture," Sonoiki said.

The envoy described Grenada as a stable, investment-friendly destination with a population of around 125,000 and a low crime rate.
Its currency, he states, has remained stable since independence in 1974.
Tourism underpins the island’s economy, drawing visitors for holidays, weddings, cultural events and education, but Sonoiki said there was scope for Nigerians to invest more widely.
He mentioned opportunities in tourism, aviation, real estate, maritime services, education, agriculture and financial technology.
Discussions are also underway to establish a direct air link between Nigeria and Grenada, with the hope that a permanent route could be operational within the next six months.
Sonoiki asserted improved connectivity would boost tourism, trade and people-to-people exchanges, while positioning Grenada as a gateway to the wider Caribbean market of about 46 million people.
