Rema to Perform at 2026 World Cup Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles

Nigerian singer, Rema will perform at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles, FIFA has confirmed.

Rema is part of the lineup for the United States (US) ceremony on 12 June at SoFi Stadium, ahead of the hosts’ match against Paraguay.

The Afrobeats star will share the stage with Katy Perry, who headlines the show, alongside Future, Anitta, LISA of BLACKPINK and Tyla.

FIFA announced on Friday that this year’s tournament will feature three separate opening ceremonies, one in each host nation.

The first takes place on 11 June in Mexico City, where Mexican band Mana will headline alongside Alejandro Fernandez and Belinda.

According to FIFA, the event will showcase Mexican culture through Indigenous and modern folkloric performances.

Canada’s ceremony follows on 12 June in Toronto, with Alanis Morissette, Michael Buble, Alessia Cara, William Prince and LA-based DJ Sanjoy performing before Canada face Bosnia and Herzegovina.

FIFA said the show will feature a "mosaic-inspired" reimagining of the World Cup trophy to reflect the country’s diversity.

FIFA described the US ceremony as a "high-energy spectacle" designed to capture the scale, ambition and cultural power of the tournament.

All performances are scheduled to begin 90 minutes before kickoff.

Notably, this is only the second time the World Cup has been co-hosted, after South Korea and Japan in 2002.
