PDP Interim NEC Releases 2026 Primaries Timetable, Nomination Fees


The interim National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved its timetable for pre-election activities ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The schedule, signed off by the NEC led by Kabiru Turaki, sets out key dates for aspirants seeking to contest on the party’s platform. 

According to National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong, the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms will run from 5 May to 13 May 2026.

Ememobong said completed forms must be submitted by 14 May while screening of aspirants is scheduled for 15–18 May, with appeals set for 21 May. 

The party will publish the list of cleared aspirants on 22 May with ward primaries for all offices to hold on 27 May, followed by appeals on 28 May.

Also, the NEC will meet on 29 May to approve nominated candidates, ahead of a special convention for ratification on 30 May.

Presidential aspirants will pay N10m for expression of interest and N90m for nomination. 

Governorship forms are N5m and N35m respectively, Senate N3m and N7m, House of Representatives N2m and N5m, and State Assembly N500,000 and N1.5m.

In line with its inclusivity guidelines, the PDP said women will only pay for the expression of interest form and are exempt from nomination fees. 

Youths and people living with disabilities will pay 50 percent of the nomination fee for their chosen office.
