Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, the party announced at its national convention in Abuja on Saturday.
The decision was confirmed on the party’s official account, which posted: "NDC presidential ticket is zoned to the South!!"
According to the party, the ticket will be for a single four-year term, with the 2031 nomination allocated to the North.
The announcement came as party leaders, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, gathered in Abuja for the convention.
Delegates are also expected to ratify recent decisions of the national executive committee, approve amendments to the party constitution, and elect new national executives.
Recall that the convention follows a wave of defections to the NDC from other parties.
