Meta Rolls Out Paid Subscriptions Across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp

Meta has launched a global rollout of subscription services for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, in one of its largest moves to move beyond an ad-driven business model.

Users can now subscribe to premium plans on the company’s flagship apps, with Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus priced at $3.99 a month and WhatsApp Plus at $2.99 a month.

The plans offer extra features, deeper personalisation and advanced tools for creators, businesses and heavy users.

Instagram and Facebook subscribers will get profile customisation, enhanced reactions, expanded story controls and advanced audience insights.

Meta announced more features will be added as the subscription ecosystem grows.

The rollout sits under a new umbrella brand, Meta One, which will act as a hub for future creator, business and AI-based services.

According to the company, the push is part of a long-term strategy to diversify revenue as growth on its core platforms slows.

Unlike Meta Verified, the new Plus subscriptions focus on user experience and audience-building rather than verification.

Instagram Plus includes tools such as Story replay counts, unlimited custom audience lists, extended Story visibility, anonymous Story previews and weekly Story spotlights for extra reach.

Users will also get animated Super Heart reactions, exclusive fonts, custom app icons and expanded profile pin options.

WhatsApp Plus focuses on messaging, with custom themes, unique ringtones, extra pinned chats, enhanced list organisation, premium stickers and other upgrades.

Meta said it is also testing paid AI tiers, saying Meta One Plus will cost $7.99 a month and Meta One Premium $19.99 a month, with the higher tier offering more processing power, deeper reasoning and enhanced image and video generation.

Casual use of Meta AI will remain free, and trials start next month in Singapore, Guatemala and Bolivia.

Separate plans for creators and businesses are planned for Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand and Bangladesh.

Meta One Essential at $14.99 includes verification, impersonation protection and an upgraded linksheet feature.

However, Meta One Advanced at $49.99 adds growth tools, higher search placement, more recommendations, enhanced Reel promotion and deeper analytics.

Meta said it will continue experimenting with features and gradually fold services into the Meta One ecosystem.
