FIFA will stage separate opening ceremonies in Mexico, Canada and the United States (US) before each host nation’s first match at this year’s World Cup, the governing body confirmed on Friday.
The tournament, the largest in the competition’s history, kicks off on 11 June at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca.
Grammy-winning band Mana will headline the show, with Alejandro Fernandez and Belinda also on the bill.
FIFA said the event will showcase Mexican culture through Indigenous and modern folkloric performances.
In Canada, Alanis Morissette, Michael Buble, Alessia Cara, William Prince and LA-based DJ Sanjoy will perform on 12 June ahead of Canada’s opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto.
FIFA revealed the ceremony will feature a "mosaic-inspired" reimagining of the World Cup trophy to reflect the country’s diversity.

Later that day, Katy Perry will headline the US ceremony at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles before the hosts face Paraguay.
She’ll be joined by Future, Anitta, LISA of BLACKPINK, Rema and Tyla.
FIFA described the show as a "high-energy spectacle" designed to match the scale of the tournament.
This is only the second time the World Cup has been co-hosted, after South Korea and Japan in 2002.
On that occasion, the opening ceremony took place in Seoul.
Matches in all three countries begin 90 minutes after the ceremonies, with fans advised to arrive early.
