Eight farmers kidnapped near Kankomi village in Kaduna State on 12 April have been freed, security sources say.
Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama reported that the farmers were released on 6 May from a terrorist camp in Rijana Forest, and they reached a military forward base the following day.
"Security sources said the victims arrived at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Tantatu in Kajuru Local Government Area at about 9:00 a.m. on 7 May," Makama said.
The sources, he added, told him the victims were among those abducted from farmlands near Kankomi village on 12 April.

According to preliminary investigations, they were released from the camp in Rijana Forest on 6 May before making their way to the troops’ location.
"The sources said the victims were subsequently handed over to local authorities in Chikun Local Government Area for further care and necessary assistance," Makama said.
Security agencies disclosed efforts were ongoing to intensify operations against criminal groups operating in forests and rural communities across Kaduna State, he added.
