Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has called on politicians to pursue their ambitions within the law as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the weekly State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Yenagoa on Wednesday, Diri said politics should be about public service rather than personal gain.
He stressed the need for restraint during the political season and assured that no aspirant would be shut out of the process.
The governor also pointed out the importance of respecting the zoning principle where it exists.
According to him, in line with All Progressives Congress (APC) directives, the party would hold direct primaries where consensus cannot be reached.
Diri gave the example of a House of Assembly member who has served one term, saying they should be allowed to return unless there is a compelling reason otherwise.
