The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted an interim order for the forfeiture of nine properties allegedly linked to former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva to the Federal Government.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the ruling following an ex-parte application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to a certified true copy of the order obtained by AIT, the assets are suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activity and will remain under government custody pending further proceedings.
Egwuatu directed the EFCC to publish the order in at least two national newspapers within seven days.

The publication is intended to notify any interested parties to show cause why the properties should not be permanently forfeited.
The properties are located across several Abuja districts, including Maitama, Wuse, Garki, Mpape and Dakibiyu.
They comprise a mix of residential and office buildings, one of which is reportedly occupied by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The case has been adjourned to 25 May 2026 for a compliance report.
